Choose me!

It says, flaunting its perfectly shaped berries in my face,

as if tempting fate has never been as exhilarating.

I deliberate between the red and blue, and weighed my options

for each has its pros, and cons, but neither

is willing to step forth.

The risk outweighs the potential,

for joy.

I wait,

time moves at a snails’ pace.

The coffee machines continue to churn.

The line to the cashier disappears.

I take one last lingering glance,

“I will spare you,”

and stepped aside.

Choose me! – It says.

I leave,

but feeling like I was the one

left behind.
